The above picture is a miniature leafless tree Orchid, Mystacidium Gracile, that grows, mostly on the trunks of Yellow Wood trees ( Podocarpus Latifolius ) at Hogsback. From the enlarged insert ( top left) , one can see that each individual tiny flower has a classic Orchid shape. It flowers annually at this time and could easily be mistaken for moss or lichen to the casual eye.
Hogsback gardens are all about detail and variety - you need to give yourself time to examine all on offer.
If you have any interest in gardens, a trip and a garden tour will be an experience you will never forget !
All the Rhododendrons are coming into bloom now as well as the deciduous Azaleas, together with some early roses.
