Garden club Monet garden evening -17 May 2018

Hogsback Garden Club Members (Non members R100) are all invited to a light meal and talk about  the magical world of Famous artist and gardener, Oscar - Claude Monet on the evening of the 17th May at 6 pm. He was responsible for the most amazingly beautiful paintings of gardens and ponds. Various ponds with bridges and always water lilies were one of his favourites. His works are a true feast for the eyes. Even more so for gardeners.

The following quote of his says it all:

"I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers. The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration."

Famous works many will know. Poppies 1873, Women in the garden 1866, The Japanese footbridge 1922 and  The Water Lilly Pond 1900.

Please bring your own drinks. There will be sherry for all and confirm your attendance by the 14th May.

If you are not yet a garden club member, you are missing out!! To join the club, please contact Monika Hof (  ) or Jenny Newman (

Visit to the Shire Eco Lodge

The Hogback Garden Club is organising a day-trip outing to Rob Scott's indigenous Bulb Nursery in Stutterheim. The property is called the Shire Eco Lodge and Rob will be giving us a talk on indigenous bulbs and we will be able to see some of them in full bloom in his nursery. We can walk on his property and visit some of the uniquely designed cabins and go for a hike through ancient Lemonwood forests to Anderson Dam. This walk is very beautiful passing numerous waterfalls and is a paradise for bird watchers. Afterwards we booked with Vinkel & Kolander for a light lunch. Date : April 11th. We will leave at 8:00 am from the Vic and hopefully be able to share cars which we can organize later.

Please RSVP by Friday April 6th (Lynda Delport
